Revealed Lamp

„There is a lamp hidden in this CD player!“

The insides of our everyday technological devices represent the incarnation of human made aesthetics. The construction and architecture of these elements are entirely based on functionality. Hence, these insides embody the very purest notion of the artificial – the composition of materials and the construction make them highly non-natural.

Revealing the insides of the CD player is first of all a celebration of human made aesthetics – symbols for efficiency, labour and technology.

Second of all, the lamp is an attempt to smoothen, distort and fade the lifeless presence of technological products together with elements of nature, as well as natural processes. This was done in an artistic craft process of organically re-shaping and integrating natural elements.
