Rest of Decency

The 3 objects of the series "Rest of Decency" are contemporary interpretations of classic tableware pieces. The title refers on one hand to the subject of decency – a value that seems to be forgotten in how we treat natural resources – and on the other hand to the German translation "Anstandsrest". This term refers to a small part of a meal everyone would leave on the plate out of decency – a way to show that you are wealthy enough to throw perfectly fine food out.

This reminds me very much with the way plastic is being produced – valuable fractions are not considered, because we seemingly have enough resources.

Which is not the case as we see nowadays.

The 3 objects are made from plastic elements recovered from a broken Canon laser printer. They are sculpted in a way, that the technical structures are dissolved into organic shapes and formal structures of old tableware.
